Kidney Stones Overview:

Kidney stones are also known as renal lithiasis.  Kidney stones cause intense pain in the abdominal area.  Kidney stones that are small in size will generally pass through your urinary track system, however, some stones are too large to pass and require surgery.

Kidney Stones Causes:

Kidney stones are caused when the kidney develops crystaline structures inside them.  People who have concentrated urine due to dehydration, high acid levels, or high levels of alkaline in their urine are likely to develop stones.  Also high levels of calcium, oxalate, and uric acid can lead to kidney stones.

Kidney Stones Symptoms:

Kidney stone symptoms include severe pain that begins in the lower back region and spreads to the ribs.  Also pain of the abdomen, groin, and genital area can occur.  Some people experience bloody stool and urine, nausea, frequent urination, and temperature variations.
